How To Layer Candles

Just like layering jewellery or clothes, layering scented candles can help to transform and elevate your space, adding a bespoke “just for you” scent to your home.

Fragrance layering is all about using multiple forms of fragrance, whether that’s with different type of home fragrance – like combining a scented candle with a room spray, or burning two or more different scented candles at the same time to create a richly complex new scent.

At Interlude, we like to mix things up and burn a few favourite scents at the same time. When people walk into our space they are welcomed by something they've never experienced before, and they often ask us for the exact mix so they can recreate it in their own homes.

To start, it might make sense for you to establish which of the scent profiles you’re most drawn to. Once you know which categories you like, you can start to experiment with complementary or contrasting notes.

Remember that there are no rules when it comes to pairing your scents - it’s a personal choice! Be daring, experiment, try something you wouldn't usually think of. There are so many possibilities.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, here are some of our favourite tried and tested pairings:

1. Fig noir and Orchidée noire

2. Santal and Vintage Cologne

3. Fleurs D'été and Vintage Cologne
